SYSTEM 01 · AGENT OS

The layer beneath the apps

An OS does not answer. It runs things — and decides who may run them.

  • One core, every surface. Desktop and web are two shells over the same core, not two products.
  • Agents are processes, not features. They observe conversation and memory, and speak first when it matters.
  • One place decides. Configuration, discovery, capability policy and events settle in the core, never per feature.
  • Boot is a real event. Every morning it wakes with yesterday already sorted.

SYSTEM 02 · BRAIN

Everything, remembered

Three layers, and a rule the code enforces.

  • Journal. The full transcript, append-only. Nothing is deleted, because you cannot know today what will matter next year.
  • Index. Words and meaning — it finds last month's conversation that shares no words with your question.
  • Graph. People, places, projects and events joined into paths. Say "that person" and it knows who.
  • Nothing enters without answering. A feature must declare what it stores and what it reads back, or the system refuses it.

SYSTEM 03 · ADAPTERS

It plugs into everything

We don't grow a list of integrations. We publish a grammar.

  • Seven open contracts. Capability, brain, engine, source, observer, surface, vault — anyone can implement them.
  • MCP adopted, not reinvented. The industry already converged on a protocol; what is built on it works here unchanged.
  • It runs both ways. The world's tools become your agents; your brain serves memory back out to other AI tools.
  • One allow, not an API key. A feature that asks a non-developer for a token may as well not exist.

SYSTEM 04 · VAULT & PERMISSIONS

Trust comes from boundaries

Not from capability. A system that can do anything and asks nothing isn't trusted — it's unsupervised.

  • Secrets are never remembered. The brain is searched and loaded into prompts, so card numbers and tokens never go in — safety from absence, not defence.
  • It stops before the irreversible. Money leaving, or anything you cannot undo, and it waits for you.
  • One policy, one place. Persona limits, sandboxing and market review all consult the same decision.
  • Local first. The original of your memory is on your machine — readable, correctable, exportable whole.

The one the other four are for. And it isn't imitation — it's range of recognition.

  • Four things widen. Your words and tone, what you look at first when judging, what you hold important here, and the decisions you already made.
  • It sorts at night. Summarise, drop duplicates, connect the new people and events, recompute what mattered.
  • Repetition is the signal. Once is an event; twice is a disposition.
  • You still win. No amount of learned pattern overwrites something you said yourself.

Memory lives in three layers

Search is the door. Relationships are the road. A memory you can't find is a memory you never kept.

Everything as it happened. The full transcript, never deleted.

Conversation, agents, connected services — anywhere Cosmos can observe is an entrance. If the only entrance is a chat box, that is exactly how much it knows.

Index

The door of words and meaning.

Ask for "somewhere on the west coast" and last month's conversation comes back without sharing a single word with your question. Nothing is kept for its own sake — only what will still be true later.

Graph

People, places, projects and events, joined into paths.

Say "that person" and the graph knows who. Once is an event; twice is a disposition.

A vision isn't only what you build.

  1. Your memory is yours

    A file you can read, correct, delete and carry out whole. Memory you can't take with you was never yours.

  2. What you said always wins

    No pipeline, however clever, overwrites something you said yourself. People above, automation below. No exceptions.

  3. Secrets are never remembered

    Safety doesn't come from defending well. It comes from absence. Card numbers and tokens never go in.

  4. If it's hard, it isn't finished

    We don't hand every user a job we could do once ourselves. Connecting must be one click.

  5. It asks before it acts

    Money leaving, or anything you can't undo, and it stops for approval. Trust comes from boundaries, not from capability.

  6. Agents are residents, not tools

    Not features that appear when summoned. And when you turn one off, it really is never called.
